Reflecting on Earned Value Management and Project Performance, we had some great questions and observations at today's working lunch.
A couple of summary points for our thinkers:
- performance is a snapshot in time. (The state of play at the time of assessment.)
- in the lag between assessment and reporting, the project is still rolling. (Draw out the valuable and accept some redundancy in the data.)
- projecting forward helps mitigate situations early and prepare actions for what is coming around the corner. (Be prepared, don't wait for issues to arrive and force you into a reactionary state.)
